How does the app work?
When you feel the urge to text your ex, open Don't Text Your Ex. The app will show you context-aware messages based on your situation - how long since the breakup, your stated goal, time of day, and more. It helps you reflect before you act.
What are Control Passes?
Control Passes unlock extended protection periods (7, 14, or 30 days) where you get access to all features without ads. They're one-time purchases that activate immediately.
Is my data private?
Without an account, everything stays on your phone and never reaches us. An account is only needed for the Growth Pass subscription, so your records survive a lost phone. Even then, the messages you didn't send, your notes, and your photos are encrypted on your phone before they're uploaded — we hold them as unreadable data and cannot open them. Do I need an account?
Only for the Growth Pass subscription. The free app and Control Passes work with no account at all. If you subscribe and later reinstall, sign in from Settings and your records come back.
Can I reset my data?
Yes. Go to Settings and tap 'Start Over'. It clears your breakup date, goal, and the history of times you held back. If you have growth records, you choose whether to archive them or erase them as well. If you're signed in, the backup is cleared too, so it won't come back on your other devices. This cannot be undone.
What is the recovery code?
12 words that let you unlock your encrypted photos and notes on a new phone. The key normally lives only on your current device, so without the code those items can't be opened after you lose or replace it. We can't recover them for you — write the words down and keep them somewhere safe.
How do I restore my purchase?
Go to Settings and tap 'Restore Purchases'. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID or Google account you used for the original purchase.
The app isn't working correctly
Try closing and reopening the app. If the issue persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling — but if you have been using the app without an account, uninstalling erases your records for good. If you want to keep them, email us first at the address below.
