Privacy Policy

The short version

Without an account, everything you write stays on your phone and never reaches us. An account is required only if you subscribe to The Next You, and it exists so your records survive a lost or replaced phone. Even then, the parts that read like a diary — the messages you didn't send, the notes and goals you wrote, your photos — are encrypted on your phone before they are uploaded. We never receive the key that opens them, so we hold them only as unreadable data. We cannot open them, and neither can anyone who obtains them from us.

On your phone

The app works fully offline and keeps all of this on the device:

  • The breakup date and goal you enter
  • Every time you opened the app to hold back, and what you decided
  • How strong the urge felt, when you record it
  • Messages you wrote but chose not to send
  • The Next You records: your answers to the daily question, goals, notes, and photos you add
  • App settings

If you create an account

Sign-in is required only for The Next You: right before you subscribe, and when you restore that subscription or its backup. Control Passes and the free app need no account.

What the account itself holds

  • Your email address, from Sign in with Apple or Google. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we only ever see the relay address
  • If you sign in with Google, the name and profile photo link that Google sends with the sign-in
  • An account identifier we use to keep your backup separate

Backed up in readable form

Your records and settings, but not your own words:

  • Your breakup date, and the goal you chose: Reconnect, Protect myself, or Not sure yet
  • Each time you opened the app to hold back: when, which button you used, what you decided, and the four screens the app showed you
  • How strong the urge felt, as one of five levels from None to Maximum
  • The Next You: which days you answered the daily question, your areas and stages, the type and numbers of your goals, and your answer to "More at ease alone, or around people?"
  • For each photo: the date, the area and the file size — not the photo itself
  • Your language setting, the date you started, counters and progress

Backed up encrypted, unreadable to us

  • The messages you wrote and didn't send
  • Anything you typed in your own words, such as notes and goals
  • Photos you attach to a growth record

These are encrypted on your phone with AES-256-GCM before upload. The key stays in your phone's secure storage; on iPhone it can also sync through your iCloud Keychain to your other Apple devices. We never receive the key itself. You may also create a 12-word recovery code so you can unlock the backup on a new phone. If you do, we store a copy of the key locked with that code — without your 12 words, no one can open it, including us. The code is yours alone: if you lose it and the key is no longer on any of your devices, we cannot recover the encrypted items, and support cannot do it for you.

What we never collect

  • Your ex's name, number, or any way to identify them
  • Your contacts, call log, or messages from any other app
  • Your precise (GPS) location. Photos are stripped of location data before they are saved
  • Your payment details — Apple and Google handle those, and we never see them

Where it is kept

Backups are stored on Supabase infrastructure in the Seoul region (South Korea). Supabase is a US-incorporated company, so its personnel may access the systems for operation and support; the encrypted items remain unreadable to them for the same reason they are unreadable to us.

Deleting your data

Start over (in Settings) erases the records you chose to clear from this phone and from the backup, so a new phone signing in won't get them back. Another phone or tablet that is already signed in keeps its own copy and may upload it to the backup again — run Start over on that device as well.

Delete account (in Settings) removes the account, the backup, the encrypted photo files, and the copy of your key locked with your recovery code. Records still on your phone stay until you remove the app. Purchase records held by Apple, Google and RevenueCat, and the usage statistics, are not affected.

Without the app — if you have already removed the app, email support@myquietspot.com and tell us which Apple or Google account you signed in with. We'll confirm the account is yours, delete the same things as above within 10 days, and let you know.

Uninstalling deletes the records on the phone. Without an account, we have no copy to give back. With an account, signing in again restores your backup; the encrypted items open again only if the key comes back — through iCloud Keychain on iPhone, or with your recovery code. Your phone's own backup (iCloud or Google) may also include the app's data.

Analytics

We record which screens are opened and which features are used, including choices such as whether you held back or how strong an urge felt, so we can tell what is working. These reports carry no name, no account, and nothing you wrote — they say "a paywall was shown", never who saw it or why.

Ads

The only ad is the optional rewarded ad you can watch for one more use. Google AdMob serves it, with Unity Ads as a backup. On Android, these services and Firebase use your device's advertising ID, which you can reset or delete in your phone's settings. On iPhone, the app never asks for permission to track you, so your advertising identifier is not shared.

Third-party services

  • Supabase — accounts and backup storage (Seoul region)
  • Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In — account sign-in
  • RevenueCat — managing subscriptions and purchases
  • Firebase Analytics — usage statistics, without your name or account
  • Firebase Crashlytics — crash reports (device model, OS and app version, where the app crashed); never your records
  • Google AdMob — the rewarded ad
  • Unity Ads — backup provider for the rewarded ad

Each has its own privacy policy, and we encourage you to read them.

Age

The app is not intended for anyone under 14, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Changes are posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
